'Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;
(for He is faithful that promised;)
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.'

(Hebrew 10:22-25)

Hello @John & @davetaff,

In verse 25 (above) 'the day approaching' is the apostacy of Hebrews 10. ' Faith', 'Hope' and 'Love' (Hebrews 10:22-24), are the perfect antidote to 'apostacy' - or to - 'an evil heart of unbelief'.  The strongest preventative against, 'drawing back' (to perdition or waste) is to 'draw near', to God: and we have every reason to draw near seeing that we 'have therefore' boldness of access to God, through Christ Jesus, Who as our Great High Priest intercedes for us before Him.

The words, 'Let us' are frequently used throughout Hebrews, in 10:19-24, 12:1-2, 12:28-13:1 and 13:12-13, they are each followed by exhortations  to 'draw near', 'hold fast', to 'lay aside' and 'run with patience', to 'have grace', 'let brotherly love continue', and finally to 'go forth unto Him without the camp'.  Each exhortation shepherding Paul's hearers towards the fold of God's love and grace.

A flock is safer when together, for the wolf or fox can't pick individual sheep off so easily when they are en-mass.  This is why meeting together is so valuable to the believer, for it is strengthening and encouraging to give and receive the Truth that each has received, and to comfort each other with the comfort that we ourselves have received.  However this verse should not be used to chastise a believer from not meeting for a Sunday service, or for not being a member of a Christian assembly, for that was not it's purpose. Meeting together can be over a coffee, with one or two, or in a home at any time of day, or day of the week: we are not bound to a day.

The most important pre-requisite for membership of any assembly is the knowledge that what is being preached or practiced is the word of God rightly divided, and administered in the light of the revelation of God for this dispensation of grace.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Hi Chris
Thanks for your reply another excellent  post I do love the book of Hebrews  as for the church of Christ it is a spiritual building cemented together  with the Holy Spirit  it cannot be separated it cannot  be separated  by anything  man can do but individuals can separate themselves if they wish but it is not a good thing.

Love and Peace
Dave

You acknowledge that the church is a spiritual entity, yet make a big fuss about there not being one physical church.
Despite knowing that the church is one spiritual entity one will not join with any local expression of that church.

I have asked you several times why you disobey the Bible's clear instruction to join with other Christians to worship God.

Well Dave, are you going to obey?

Hi John
Thank you for your concern but there's no need to worry our Lord said

   For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Matthew 18:20 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.18.20.KJV

And where our Lord is there the church is and we on this site is far more than two or three.
As a matter of fact there are quite a lot of online churches are they all null and void I consider this site a church we honour  Christ and spread God's  word across the world surely this is what the church was created for to spread the word of God far and wide.
If you look at all the views of the different topics you will see we have quite a large following who read the different posts so lets keep up the good work and spread the gospels  to the ends of the earth as our Lord has commanded us.

Love and Peace
Dave
