Hi Deborah
Thank you for your reply  even if those who caused the devisions in the church are dead and buried there doctoring  remain which cause devision we have a warning  from St Paul we need to think about.

Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.  For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.  Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.  Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

Bad exergis Dave
Paul is writing to one church where several people were building up a following in that church. He was not writing to several disputing churches.

A question for you. Why aren't you following your own writing and are a member of a church?

Another question. You are a member of a church, but a faction has developed that is promoting false teaching. This has been raised but the church is not prepared to discipline those teaching false doctrine.
What do you do, do you stay to preserve church unity or do you leave to join a church the teaches the truth.

If you chose the second option why are you critical of those who have done the same years ago?

Hi John
Thank you for your reply  but I believe that Paul was speaking to the church there is only one church and that is the body of Christ and it cannot and should not be divided.
His words applied to the church of his day and even more so to the numerous  denominations  of to day who need to take his words to heart.

Yes Paul as writing to One church. He was writing to the church in Corinth.

We apply what he wrote to the whole church.
But you have avoided my questions.  What would you do if the church you attend each Sunday, the church which has your name on its membership list starts teaching error?

Do you actually belong to a local church?

Hi John
Thanks for your post  what ever anyone says in or out of church should be checked  against scripture if scripture supports what is said then I can accept it if not I reject it.
As for which church like I have said many times there is only one church I wish to be part of and thats the body of Christ I dont like putting man made names over the door.

Dave,
If you do not belong to a local church not only are you disobeying scripture but you have no right to complain about local churches and you are denying  other Christians your encouragement, yourself there challenge and more importantly your prayers and financial support to many Christian works.

Hi John
Are you saying I can't do all these things if I am a member of the body of Christ.

Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:5 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/1pe.2.5.KJV
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2 Corinthians 6:16 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/2co.6.16.KJV
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;  In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:  In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Ephesians 2:20-‬22 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/eph.2.20-22.KJV

As we see from the above it is the temple of the Lord we should strive to be a member of.
we should be a member of the body of Christ this is the true Church (Temple) we belong to a spiritual temple.

Love and peace

Dave,
Hebrews 10:24+25 let us spur one another on to love and good deeds and let us not neglect to meet together but encourage one another.

Paul gather Christians together in churches, and as we readhis letters often they were a sorry lot, during one another, engaging in all sorts of misbehaviour.
Both Jesus and the apostles had the habit of attending the synagogues, yet you won't.

But you will criticise local churches, which in my opinion if you don't belong to it you have no right to do so.
