Hebrews 11:  1.  Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.   True faith posts its letter and lets it go.  Uncertainty holds on to a corner of it and then wonders that the answer never comes.

Matthew 14:  24. and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.  Jesus Christ is no security against storms, but He is perfect security in storms.  He has never promised us an easy passage, only a safe landing.

Matthew 10:  27. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.  The hearts of some,  just like the evening primrose, open more beautifully and fully in the shadows of life.

1 Thessalonians 4:  16-17.  For the LORD himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the LORD in the air. And so we will be with the LORD forever. When I die I want no one to mourn and play sad songs but they are to sound reveille for that is the trumpet call to awaken and rise to a new day.

John 20:  29. Then Jesus told him, Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.  God has to keep away encouraging results until we learn to trust without them, and then He loves to make His Word real to our senses: in fact as well as through faith.

When serving our neighbour let us remember that light only comes at the cost of that which produces it.  Burning must come before shining. We cannot be of great use to others without cost to ourselves.

2 Timothy 2:  10. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.  God's promise seems to wait for the pressure of pain to trample out our richest juice as in a wine-press.  Only those who have sorrowed know how tender is the love of the man of Sorrows.

Matthew 2:  13.  When they had gone, an angel of the LORD appeared to Joseph in a dream. Get up, he said, take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.   Patience and trust in the more routine things of life, will be the best preparation for the  greater opportunities which God may sometimes send us.

Psalm 10:  1.  Why, LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? We can be certain that He who allows the suffering is always with us in it.

Only those who toil can truly appreciate the period of rest and calm and this applies just as much to our spiritual as to our temporal lives.

Let us sing joyfully to the Lord.  We can sing our cares away much easier than we can reason them away.  The birds with their dawn chorus are the earliest to sing, and birds are more without care than anything else that I know of.

When God has conquered us and has taken all the flint out of our nature we then get deep visions into the Spirit of Jesus and then see as never before the great gentleness of His Spirit in this dark and un-heavenly world.

'Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart,
be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.'

(Psa 19:14)

'My mouth shall speak of wisdom;
and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.'

(Psa 49:3)

Thank you, Derek1955

In Christ Jesus
