You may surf the internet until doomsday but no satisfactory search result will emerge regarding that which in general is called the 'Life Force': that mysterious essence which enlivens every living thing on the planet; and once life is extinct in flora or fauna there is no way for it to be brought back.

Every living thing from the smallest  virus to the 100 ton blue whale and from the tiniest seed to the largest tree is vivified by the 'Life Force'.  Where it came from, when or why is not understood and yet the world now contains a googolplex of 'living' organisms.   Science is nowhere near solving the puzzle of  the workings of the energizing life force which gives life to our planet.

Let's offer up a challenge.  Put all the scientists in the world together; tell them they can have whatever inert material they need and then ask them to make an acorn that contains life and which when planted in soil will grow into a mature oak and then produce seeds (acorns) which in turn will grow to maturity and begin producing acorns which......  you get the picture.   Neither can a cut on a corpse be healed.  Whether enlivening animal or vegetable the mysterious life force gives life to that which it inhabits and when it departs the organism will no longer function.

To Christians the answer is to be found in John's Gospel ch:1. which states ?In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning . Through Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made that was made that has been made. In Him was Life and that Life was the light of all mankind.?   Jesus tell us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and it is He and no other who gives life to all that is in the world and it is He who can take that life away.

Matthew 21: 18-22 records the example of Him who gave life to the date tree, taking that life away.  Yet another example  of Christ's total control over His creation.

hath given me life.'

This is really encouraging to see this. I was thinking of this about God being the source of life, as I was working earlier. God being in all the power , mechanism and breath of creation, creature and person.

That God is the breath of  life.  That we cannot live on bread alone, and all survive on Him, in many aspects.

Morality one of them for a healthy lifestyle and healthy society.

That a reprobate mind has  somewhat lost the God given moral influence to their way of thinking, losing the harmony, soundness and balance.

Therefore coming out thinking in distortion and extremism as individuals, and together with their  influence on society.

Not thinking in truth, and in  a healthy balance, presenting lies for truth and truth for lies and conforming to the pattern of society, that has been shaped by compliance to  underlying seducing spirits.

Yet if people in society turn to Christ, the Word of God they can be given the truth that sets them free
A sound mind guided by truth and the means of harmony.

Hello @Christianna,

You have taken Derek's thoughts forward into spiritual life, haven't you?  That God as the Creator is the giver of life, natural life, but also without Him there would also be no possibility of spiritual life.  When I entered my response earlier, there was a verse I wanted to enter concerning the Lord Jesus Christ as 'The Word', which is,

' ... All things were made by Him;
and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men ....

(John 1:3-4)

* But it is not only spiritual life which the Lord Jesus Christ gives, but resurrection life, isn't it?

'...  Verily, verily, I say unto you,
The hour is coming, and now is,
when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God:
and they that hear shall live
.
For as the Father hath life in Himself;
so hath He given to the Son to have life in Himself; ... '

(John 5:25-26)

* These verses refer to both natural life, and spiritual life, don't they?

* You refer to the effect that 'spiritual life' has upon the moral compass that governs our way, and to 'The Bread of Life', again in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, that we must partake of in order to keep that moral compass straight, by first acknowledging Him as our personal Saviour, and placing our trust in His saving power: then by the reading of His word. For a conscience can become seared by hypocrisy, or defiled, and become an evil conscience.  (that would actually be a good subject to follow through, for the Scriptures have much to say on it)

* You refer to 'a sound mind' and to 'healthy balance', how vital both are.

Thank you for your thoughts, Christianna,
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Hello @Cariad
It is the spiritual life that does effect the physical world/ life.

I did try to present both and the morality was an example.

For God is needed for everything the physical and spiritual dimensions.

Hi Christianna,

Yes, I thought that.  Good thinking!  :D
In responding, I was thinking through what you had said, and imparting my thoughts in reply.

Thank you
