@Cariad
Churning out scriptures is just my words and expression.
I've been through phases before in having difficulties in my faith and admittedly felt annoyed about some expressions of others at times. Yet it was between myself and God, and I tried not to show it.

 For that was my wrongful attitude and of the flesh but it sort of showed me what it was like from another perspective, and in a strange way brought growth.

Remembering too, the days of hearing hymns, seeing the Word of God and putting it in a pigeon hole. Not realising the Word of God was sowing seeds in other ways, coming over in a different way.

When the Son,the Word Jesus Christ, sets us free we don't see religious words but something of substance that has meaning to us and for the world.

Sometimes I know how other see things and how they assume and it's about time Christians really spoke up and stop being down trodden. Especially when you see what is happening in the world.

We need to be more concerned for God's perspective and not fear others. Not to keep treading too timidly to disturb the world's view. As they tread us down.

'Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.'

(Col 3:16-17

Hello again,

The verses above show the place that the word of God has to have in our dealings with one another, as brothers and sisters in Christ, don't they?

One important truth that I feel is very important to each one of us, especially in these days of danger and uncertainty, is the need to praise God at all times.  For it is 'Praise' that keeps our hearts uplifted to Him, and keeps our minds stayed upon Him, so that we can overcome fears, and pain, and trial of all kinds.

'Rejoice in the Lord alway:
.. and again I say, Rejoice.
.... Let your moderation be known unto all men.
The Lord is at hand.
.. Be careful for nothing;
.... but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
...... let your requests be made known unto God.
........ And the peace of God,
.......... which passeth all understanding,
............ shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren,
.. whatsoever things are true,
.... whatsoever things are honest,
...... whatsoever things are just,
........ whatsoever things are pure,
.......... whatsoever things are lovely,
............ whatsoever things are of good report;
.............. if there be any virtue,
................ and if there be any praise,
.................. think on these things.
Those things, which ye have both learned,
.. and received, and heard, and seen in me, do:
.... and the God of peace shall be with you.'

(Php 4:4-9)

Praise God!

In Christ Jesus
Chris

I like that, let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.

It's living by the Spirit of God and not the flesh.
Living by the flesh, leads us open to the Prince of the Power of the air, and will effect our way of thinking like a flood.
I know and have experienced it. Just don't want to be thinking like that again and it doesn't make a person happy but very unhappy. Creating difficult situations as well.

Live by God and He will counsel us in our own situations, however difficult they are.

Sometimes things can spiral out of control and counseling can help. That's when we may need others but others who can direct us to God.

Trusting in God will help . Trusting He will deliver , provide a way and will help. He did promise that.

The verse about dwelling on what is true, just, pure and lovely, in Philippines 4:4-9 is a reflection of living by the Spirit. Good for our mind and spirit and well being.

Therefore the more we live by the Spirit the more we will see things balanced and justly and rejoice in God and His creation.

That is different to the way the world enjoys and different to human assessment of what is just..

Hello @Christianna

You do realise we are 'truthing' here, don't you?  :D  Just enjoying sharing the things of God with each other.  Encouraging one another in our mutual faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Praise God!

When I was reading your entry,  and thinking about the word of God dwelling in us richly, my thoughts went to the verses quoted above.  I have heard it said so often, 'be filled with the Spirit', but very rarely are the following words quoted, which tells us how being filled with the spirit is evidenced:-

' ... but be filled with the Spirit;
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; ... ... '

* The word of God dwelling in us richly, for me is being filled with the Spirit.  For the word of God is the Holy Spirit's means of communication, His 'Sword', which when available within the heart and mind is a constant source of love and grace, of instruction and of discipline.  It brings joy and delight and a heart filled with gratitude to God the Father, and to the Lord Jesus Christ in Whom we dwell, and Who dwells in us, as we all, in Him, dwell in the Father.  ONE in Him!  It is this that overflows and reaches those around us.

Praise His Holy Name!

Within the love of Christ our Saviour
Chris

Running Over

Verse 1
Since the Saviour came to this heart of mine
My cups filled and running over
Filling my poor soul with his joy divine
My cup's filled and running over.

Chorus
Running over, running over,
My cups filled and running over
Since the lord saved me
I'm as happy as can be
My cup's filled and running over

Verse 2
With my Lord so Dear
I have naught to fear
My cup's filled and running over
Though my way be drear
He is ever near
My cup's filled and running over

Chorus

Verse 3
Even though I walk
Through the death's darksome vale
My cup's filled and running over
Christ my lord shall be
My comfort still
My cup's filled and running over

Chorus

Verse 4
Sinner seek the Lord
Trust his precious word
While the Angels round you hover
Heaven's Bells will ring
And you then will sing
My Cup's filled and running over

Chorus

Hello   :D

Yes this is truthing.
Agree also that  the Word of God dwelling richly in a person, is to be Spirit filled.

The Word and Spirit of God, go together.

The result of being spirit filled, is the attributes described in Galatians 5:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

I often think of truth to be an attribute, not listed in Galatians 5:22
Yet described in another way.

For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth. Ephesians 5:9

We are not yet perfected and still have the old nature with us.

Therefore not always thinking by the truth and living by the truth.

Yet if the Word of God dwells in us richly, our thinking will be more just, balanced, sound and more truthful, and seeking the truth.

'For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you,
and for them at Laodicea,
and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
That their hearts might be comforted,
being knit together in love,
and unto all riches of the full assurance of understandin
g,
to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God,
and of the Father, and of Christ;
In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.'

(Colossians 2:1-3)

Hello there,

We sing, 'Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine, O, what a foretaste of glory divine.' - How important ASSURANCE is, isn't it?  Paul was so concerned that the believers at Colossi should be, 'knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding'.   Though this takes us further than the assurance that Jesus is our Saviour, unto an assurance of understanding concerning Him as our Lord and Head, as members of His Body.

It is a 'full assurance of understanding' that we all need in order to stand in the evil day, when all is dark and we cannot see light, when all our confidence is being shaken by circumstances beyond our control.

Paul goes on to tell us what the goal of that assurance of understanding is, doesn't He:-

'TO the acknowledgement of
.. the mystery of God,
.... and of the Father,
...... and of Christ;
........ In Whom are hid
.......... all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.'

We cannot acknowledge what we do not know or understand, can we?  How we need to spend time in God's Word, don't we? Especially in the later prison epistles of Paul*, where these things are revealed. That the 'full assurance of understanding' may be ours, in Christ Jesus, by His Spirit.

Thank you.
In Christ Jesus
Chris

   may give unto you (us)  the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
