Hi
Moving on to day three.

.         6  And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. note

7  And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8  And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day

What can this mean my thoughts turn to revelations.

.  Rev 17:15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues

Of course this would mean there were people on the earth and what were the waters above could it be the heavenly bodies the angles God separated them so they should not mix of course some angles disobeyed and that is why God destroyed this part of creation and began again with Noah.

Love and peace

I think you mean Day 2!

Dave, just because waters are symbolic of nations in Revelation doesn't make them symbolic of nations everywhere else in the Bible. Can't 'water' just mean 'water' sometimes?
Actually, this is a reference to ancient ideas of the structure of the universe: water below the sky (the sea, obviously) and water above the sky (the source of rain, which comes from above)

So here we have God creating Planet Earth! The first three acts of creation are all acts of 'separation' (light/darkness on Day 1; heaven/earth on Day 2; sea/land on Day 3) To translate it into modern scientific language, He separates the Earth off from the rest of the universe, in order to make a habitable world. And an abundance of water is what makes our planet suitable for life...
"Blessed is the one who always trembles before God,
but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble." (Proverbs 28:14)

Hi Deborah
Thank you for your reply to which I can agree to the creation before the flood I know I do not make myself plain some times sorry about that.
What I am trying to say is the creation account can be applied after the flood and everything in that account can represent something else.
In the creation before the flood the angles came down and were cohabiting with women which contaminated God's Creation so God destroyed that creation and locked those angels away.

So God began a new creation of mankind in his mage and one of the first things he does  is create a barrier between heaven and earth a firmament to stop the same thing happening again.

Hi Earthman
That the human race has evolved over millions of years I won't argue with the amount of evidence is overwhelming.
What I am saying is the creation of man in the image of God is something entirely different and will only be realized in Jesus Christ at his second coming.
Evolution is not a case of happy accidents or survival of the fittest it is a planned program of our heavenly Father and is still ongoing.

Hi
Getting the thread back on track.

.
9  And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10  And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11  And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. note

12  And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13  And the evening and the morning were the third day

Not an easy section for me the waters gathered together could well be a reference to the creation of Israel and Lord called it good.
Next our Lord began to work on Israel to make it grow and likens it to  plant life and trees we know that Israel is likened to a olive tree keeping in mind that the days are a thousand years long.
So should we see the other nations as trees and the people's as grass and plants.

On what do I base these strange thoughts it was something our Lord did he cured a man of blindness and asked him what he saw the man answered

.   Mar 8:24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking

So did our Lord make a mistake of did he cure his spiritual blindness as well as his physical blindness so is our Lord giving us a little clue to how we should see things.
Not forgetting our Lord is said to be the true fine another tree.

Love and peace
Dave

I have seen nothing in either Theology or Science to improve upon Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
