And God said to Abraham, ?As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. I will bless her, and moreover, I will give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.? Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said to himself, ?Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child??
Genesis 17:15-‬17 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/gen.17.15-17.ESV

Here God changes Sarai name to Sarah which means princess and God promises to that she will give her a son why did God wait so long I believe it was to make it absolutely certain that it was the will of God not the will of man.
And from this woman and her son would come multitudes and nations and kings and when we continue reading the OT all these things come true God always fulfills his promises and the end of this promise is the King of Kings Jesus Christ.

Hi

And Abraham said to God, ?Oh that Ishmael might live before you!? God said, ?No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him. As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful and multiply him greatly. He shall father twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation. But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this time next year.? When he had finished talking with him, God went up from Abraham.
Genesis 17:18-‬22 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/gen.17.18-22.ESV

Here we see Abraham trying to get his first born recognised but God is having none of it and promises him he will have a son by his ageing wife and he will be his heir.
We see this played out right throughout the bible starts with Cain and Able and ends with Christ and Israel its always the younger son who is blessed.
God answers Abrahams prayer for Ishmael and blesses him but he is not the chosen one its Isaac that God shall make a covenant with and he will keep it to the end of this creation it will be a very bumpy road for Israel but God will always keep his word.

Hi

Then Abraham took Ishmael his son and all those born in his house or bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham?s house, and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very day, as God had said to him. Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. That very day Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised. And all the men of his house, those born in the house and those bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
Genesis 17:23-‬27 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/gen.17.23-27.ESV

Here we see Abraham obeying God to the letter and circumcised all the males in his house which symbolises the removal of the flesh we cannot enter the presence of God in the flesh we must be translated into spiritual beings as Christ was when he was raised from the dead and we must follow the same path and the only way is through faith and love.

For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: ?Death is swallowed up in victory.? ?O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting??
1 Corinthians 15:53-‬55 ESV

Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

Hi
Moving on

And the Lord appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day. He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth and said, ?O Lord, if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by your servant. Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree, while I bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh yourselves, and after that you may pass on?since you have come to your servant.? So they said, ?Do as you have said.? And Abraham went quickly into the tent to Sarah and said, ?Quick! Three seahs of fine flour! Knead it, and make cakes.? And Abraham ran to the herd and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a young man, who prepared it quickly. Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared, and set it before them. And he stood by them under the tree while they ate.
Genesis 18:1-‬8 ESV

Not an easy section who were the three men who appeared I think one was our Lord the other two angels maybe and as they were spiritual beings would they need to eat its obvious he knew who they were he bowed down to them.
Was the destruction of Sodom a fortast of what God would eventually do to this evil world.

Hi

They said to him, ?Where is Sarah your wife?? And he said, ?She is in the tent.? The Lord said, ?I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.? And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years. The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah. So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, ?After I am worn out, and my Lord is old, shall I have pleasure?? The Lord said to Abraham, ?Why did Sarah laugh and say, ?Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old??
Genesis 18:9-‬13 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/gen.18.9-13.ESV

Here our Lord promises Abraham and Sarah that she would have a son now both of them were very old way past having children I think God waited solong to make sure that it was him who was responsible for the child.
Of course this mirrors what was to happen to another woman Mary who had a son by the promise of God and that child was Christ
The son of Sarah would eventually become the nation of Israel Gods son in the flesh

When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.
Hosea 11:1 ESV

This was to fulfil the story of Cain and Able the older brother Israel kills the younger brother Jesus.

Hi

Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.? But Sarah denied it, saying, ?I did not laugh,? for she was afraid. He said, ?No, but you did laugh.?
Genesis 18:14-‬15 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/gen.18.14-15.ESV

The lesson to be learned from the above is we can hide nothing from God he knows everything we do and think so we need to be very careful in what we do say and think not an easy task.
So let us do our best to do say and think what is pleasing to the Lord.

Then the men set out from there, and they looked down toward Sodom. And Abraham went with them to set them on their way. The Lord said, ?Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do, seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
Genesis 18:16-‬18 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/gen.18.16-18.ESV

Here our Lord prophecies what will happen to Abraham and his descendants after him and every word has come true he is the founder of Israel and through Israel came our Lord Jesus Christ a blessing to the whole world how wonderful is that.
All the words of God will and has come true and the last thing to come true is man in the image of God which is Jesus Christ at his second coming when he is united with his Bride.

Hi
Next

For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.?
Genesis 18:19 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/gen.18.19.ESV

So our Lord has chosen Abraham to inform and educate his descendants after him to keep the way of the Lord to do righteousness and justice this was before the law was given.
I believe the law was given so that Israel would know the difference between right and wrong and that everything the Lord had promised Abraham would come to him this will happen when our Lord returns and all these prophecies will be fulfilled.

Love and Peace
