So was Noah in the image of God I don't think so the first thing he does when he gets of the ark is get paralytic drunk don't sound very God like to me.

Thats the trouble with this "image" thing - the pastor / minister / must be seen as perfect.

I've lived with leaders and pastors / my fatherinlaw is still minstering at 88 years of age...

the problem with types of Christ is that they are not Christ / they are human -

Adam was a type of Christ and this is the problem when you link types  and the use of typology..

link this to Moses who murdered a man and then link to Joseph [actually he was the best and seen as the most innocent type"..

We now bring David into the court and find him guilty of adultery and murder..

Let's bring  Abraham and Hagar into court..

Not to mention Jacob the deceiver - who stole.. lets convict him as well..

Then Noah ooooooooooo00000000

Noah the drunk and commted incest - lets put him down - get the anvil ready

Hi Earthman
Thank you for your reply as for the image of God there is only one person in the whole of scripture who is said to be so

.
Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high

I have posted this scripture many times and it always gets ignored  but it is a simple statement of fact Jesus Christ is the express image Of God The father and as such is the end of creation.
Man in the image of God is Christ the head and his body all the millions that belong to him this is man in the image of God.

Love and peace
Dave

sorry I'm multitasking again  doing invoices ATST and thinking why this silly insurance firm - won't insure me.. anyway and watching a Sci fi movie..

Jesus is the same "substance" as God He is the exact relication/image/ of the Father.

One thing I will ask to put the spanner in the works is..

As He is so - why need the blood of Jesus to stop the Wrath of God ?

The point I was making is the ID between people and God - I just  highlighted the difference between "types using typology" and refered too these  peoples "mishaps".

I'n not arguing the Christ was or is not Divine.

Or that God condones people's behaviour .

Hi
Thank you Earthman for your replies before I return to the Genesis account I would like to look at something St Paul said.

.   2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.[a] The old has passed away; behold, the new has come

What hose he mean by new creation he certainly can not mean all animal and plant life that already existed so the only thing that makes sense is man in the Image of God.
So if Christ is the new creation who or what was the old creation can't be the Adam before the flood he was destroyed in the flood the only logical answer is Israel which God created after the flood.
Question is why did God create Israel what was it purpose what we do know is the man of flesh must come first then the man of spirit.

Hi
Back to the creation account in Genesis

.        20  And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. note note note note

21  And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

22  And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

23  And the evening and the morning were the fifth day

This is self evident of what God did before the flood he created everything that lives in the sea and birds of the air and everything God created was good.

How does this day of creation fit in with the creation after the flood this is the day after Christ came into the world  and after he was taken into heaven.
The sea of course are the seas of humanity that filled the earth at that time they are depicted as sea creatures and birds of the air almost all of the living in ignorance of God and his gospel and his law.
The only thing that would change this was the preaching of God's word to the ends of earth then there was evening and morning the fifth day can be read as light and darkness of good and evil.

Love and peace
Dave

Day 4
Mankind has always been fascinated by the stars (astronomy is the oldest science); but wonder has often led to worship rather than to adoration of their Creator.  The sun and moon are only "lights", not gods; they are material objects that obey the laws of physics! Similarly, it is the nature of the earth's rotation and orbit that determines the alternation of day and night and the regular cycle of the seasons. The orderly movements of the heavenly bodies have enabled us to construct a calendar; but, despite the ingenuity of astrologers, they have no power or influence over our lives and destinies.

Day 5
On this day the population of the Earth begins. The first realms to teem with life are the oceans and the skies. All creatures - big and small, common and rare - have a place in God's world. Even the great sea monsters (of which the ancients were so terrified) have been made by God.
Even after so many species have become extinct, there is still an immense variety: big and small, simple and complex, common and rare.
"Blessed is the one who always trembles before God,
but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble." (Proverbs 28:14)
