Finding my way around
« on: May 13, 2020, 02:29:16 PM »
Since registering 9 days ago there have been 88 posts (apart from mine) attributed to 10 'users', 4 of which seem to do so on a software setting that brings them all in (if indeed they are different persons) in the same daily order at precisely 1:00am. (with one user posting more than once daily)
Leaving 49 posts split between:
wincam - (5 posts)
davetaff - (18 posts)
Christianna - (6 posts)
strobe - (4 posts)
Deborah - (4 posts)
Serenity - (4 posts)
TaraH - (2 posts)
jimboy - (3 posts)
Winnie - (2 posts)
Guardian - (1 post)

Discount the 33 of those posts that are made by 4 Moderators and 1 Administrator and that leaves an average of less than 2 posts per day from 'ordinary members' (excluding mine), which feels somewhat 'short' of the sort of fellowship that one would have expected in a Christian forum.
Can anything be done to boost the 'fellowship' aspect which the site's title suggests?
What if each member were to set themselves a target of introducing at least one new member from their circle of Christian friends?

Hi Theo

This is a very sleepy forum, isn't it - but there are many people who just look and never post anything.

However, I wouldn't set myself the target you suggest, and that's because I wouldn't recommend any online Christian forum to anyone that I know. Forums are a strange world - everyone's free to post anything they like, bizarre opinions and doctrines are all over the place, and sooner or later people start posting conspiracy theories (which can't be challenged because every opinion is considered equal). I've been on forums for years now, and I've found it useful to discover what weird beliefs are out there and to sharpen up my debating skills, but I've survived only because I'm very sure of what I believe to start with. And if anything the quality has gone down over time... I'd never advise anyone to go to a forum in order to find out about Christianity, because they'd get completely the wrong impression!

I don't post much here because I'm heavily involved with a local church (which is currently without a minister) and I prioritise my own blog. And frankly, I'm bored stiff with creation/evolution debates and similar "favourites" - hardly anyone knows what they're talking about and the arguments just go round in circles.
"Blessed is the one who always trembles before God,
but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble." (Proverbs 28:14)

Thanks Deborah.
All so very true.
I admire your Blog and wisdom.
Since my post I have continued fudging around and I conclude that the site has the hallmark of a strain of autism leading to multiple registrations by one person, using different usernames, and kept in check, as much as she is able by Serenity, whose efforts I admire (I have a step grand daughter suffering from the most unbelievably extreme autism).
I chuckle to note the number of Board Moderators who are no longer active (some for as long as 2-3 years).
I guess I too will just fade away. :051bye:

Interesting post on stats, quite impressive actually.

Just so you know i am one person and do not have any other logins here.  I many years ago used to help  Guardian Admin here, but stepped away from that as i had a baby and unable to split time to help in same way i did.

I relatively recently popped back and was asked as an old friend if i wanted to help some with being moderator, so i said yes.

I am pretty loathed to get drawn into debates/theo/doctrinal/tenet style discussions because pretty much 'no 2 people tend to believe the same', i find it irritating and it's just not fruitful.

Personally i prefer to post about the relationship we have with God.  The reality of this and in essence support and tools to help in building our real life faith/relationship with Him.  This too is not often popular with those that prefer to tooth pick themselves over being 'correct about everything '.  Frankly focussing on the tree of knowledge of good and evil rather than the tree of life, but i digressing now.

Then the crazy worldwide pandemic ensued shortly after i came back and as my role is in community support with people with mental health and acquired brain injuries, aswell as mum and house keeper and making sure my other half is sorted for his job in the nursing home, my time had become limited again.  However, now that has kinda settled into a new norm, i am hoping this will improve!

So no i'm afraid i dont get too involved in debates but do enjoy talking faithwalk.  Also i am 1 person.  Hope this helps with your impressive stats!  It would be lovely for others to join in, in a forum with diverse areas.

Much love and peace 💖🔥

So sorry about your experience @Theo

I sunk over  6000.00 into this - [in the beginning] beleiving God would provide.. [I ended up in big debts]

I had to shut down over 6 sites .... [not just to do with this venture / but an attack on my business and life  "which God began]

Nowadays - I pay for a shared server [which is in my price range] ATM - during this this corona virus ...

This does not mean  that God cannot provide or that He is not able... [which is why you experience a disappointment on this remaining site..[so sorry]

I could or God could provide for a virtual server [ a server designated to several people / re :  and bringing in thousands/ or not/
/ and shared by a few / [the problem with virtual servers is that you need to know what you are doing] hence the downfall of Chistians together...

Semidedicated cost a lot of money - and dedicated servers can cost over ?1000.00 a year...

You might use twitter or facebook  [these make milions per year  - and they are run by multi million conpanies..

I am just a guy - following God  - doing something and continuing  something that God began [on less than a basic wage]

Hernce you have noticed a dfifference between the big guys and little me...

It's no big deal. .
