Speak up.........who spoke ?
« on: May 12, 2020, 02:06:32 PM »
Did the Word of God, as God and for God,also speak in the OT at 'thus saith the Lord' and elsewhere also
Did He speak at Ex20;1-3 - is this what Moses wrote[Jn 5:46] that He spoke that is still not accepted
Did He speak to and give Moses the ten Commandments[Jn 14:15 - Jn 5:37 - Numbers 12;6-8] - wincam

'God, who at sundry times and in divers manners
spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son,
Whom He hath appointed heir of all things,
by whom also He made the worlds; ... '

(Hebrews 1:1-2)

Hi @wincam,

You refer to Exodus 20:1-3, and John 5:46:-

'And God spake all these words, saying,
I am the LORD thy God,
which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of bondage.
Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.'

(Exodus 20:1-3)

'Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father:
there is one that accuseth you,
even Moses, in whom ye trust.
For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me:
for he wrote of me.
But if ye believe not his writings,
how shall ye believe M words?'

(John 5:45-47)

* Also John 14:15; John 5:37 and Numbers 12:6-8

'If ye love me,
keep my commandments.'

(John 14:15)

'But I have greater witness than that of John:
for the works which the Father hath given Me to finish,
the same works that I do, bear witness of Me,
that the Father hath sent me.
And the Father Himself, which Hath sent me, Hath borne witness of me.
Ye have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His shape.
And ye have not His word abiding in you:
for whom He hath sent, Him ye believe not.'

(John 5:36-38)

'And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud,
and stood in the door of the tabernacle,
and called Aaron and Miriam:
and they both came forth.
And He said,
Hear now my words:
If there be a prophet among you,
 I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision,
and will speak unto him in a dream.
My servant Moses is not so,
who is faithful in all mine house.
With him will I speak mouth to mouth,
even apparently, and not in dark speeches;
and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold:

wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

(Numbers 12:6-8)

* I enjoyed reading the verses you have referred to, but I have no idea what conclusions you intend your readers to make from them.

Thank you

(John 5:45-47)

Compare the words of the Lord (above) with that of Moses below:-

'The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee,
of thy brethren, like unto me; unto Him ye shall hearken; ... ...
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee,
and will put My words in His mouth;
and He shall speak unto them all that I shall command Him.
And it shall come to pass,
that whosoever will not hearken unto My words which He shall speak in My name,
I will require it of him.'

(Deuteronomy 18:15 & 18-19)

Chris - I AM SURPRISED at your low response but at least you dared and cared to respond - as Jesus said at John 5;46 most are still not getting what He said at Ex20;1-3 that Moses wrote He said etc - please try again - btw most are mistaken and believe the Bible says 'the Word was first made flesh' at John 1;14 - wincam

Hello @wincam[/member,

I am sorry if my response was a disappointment, but your OP was not clear.  It is obvious that it is God speaking in both Old and New Testaments.

yes but was it the Word of God[John 5;37] - if so who is the Word of God - wincam

'God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son,
whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds;
Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person,
and upholding all things by the word of His power,
when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

(Heb 1:1-3)

Hello @wincam,

Thank you for responding.

The Word was God(John1:1.

The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:14): but the Lord Jesus Himself said that He only spoke the words that He received from the Father (John 14:10). God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself (1 Corinthians 5:19)

So it is God speaking in both Old and New Testaments.

Thank you
