I've read somewhere that angels do not have free will and recently had an online discussion on this topic with someone. I'd be very interested to hear your views. I will refrain from giving my view until I have some feedback as I want to play devil's advocate if I can but I do have a definite position that I think is important, indeed, key to at one of my strongly held beliefs.

Hi Strobe
Yes of course angles have free will without free will they could not have procreate with human women the could not have chosen to come down to earth and contaminated God's Creation.
And most importantly of all they could not choose to love Love is a freewill gift from the heart of God programmed them to love they would only be robots and their love worthless same applies to us.

Love and peace
Dave

Hello Dave,
Thanks for the reply. Why is free will required for procreation and where does it say they are not like robots in that regard? Robots are very useful, I wouldn't mind having one to do my housework.
Love and peace to you too.

Hi Strobe
Thank you for your reply the angels did not need free will to procreate they needed freewill to make the decision to disobey God.
You can't program someone to love it would not be love God wants us to love him the overriding message of scripture is love God is Love God wants me to love everybody and everybody to love me and love must be a freewill gift from the heart which can not be given without freewill.

Love and peace
Dave

In reading Isaiah 14:13-14, I see Lucifer's statements that show angels have freewill.

Some are fallen like Lucifer and that was their own choosing. To be against God.

Angels have some differences to robots.

Robots are manmade and do not have the breath of God in them. They are not able to think for themselves.

They are preprogrammed and sometimes get things out of context. Much like the laughs you get from predicted texts.
They can be connected to WiFi and could be controlled by spiritual warfare, that gets into the internet.

What about Job 1:12? Satan must do what God tells him to (or can't do what God tells him not to do)

Could God not have required them to do as they did? Maybe they didn't disobey God and everything is under His control and essential to His plan.
Couldn't the fall have been God's will and it is mankind that will have free will and be perfectly holy when His work is finally done?
If angels have free will, who's to say that after Jesus returns then the whole process won't start again and another one will rebel?

I often think of :
For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all. Romans 11:32
Just that was referring to a passage about Israel, but could be expanded to all. Except that it appears to be referring to humankind and not including angels.

In God there is no darkness at all, and yet we are told God created good and evil. Isaiah 45:7

Probably not in the beginning when it was good but after creation was fallen. To use evil for good purposes.
1 Timothy 1:20

Maybe God allows this for good purposes as just said, but still I see freewill in it, in that creation can be  accepting or rejecting  God. Although not always have the choosing of  their own situations . Though within that can rely on God, or not rely on Him.

Also God forknows and must have known creation would become fallen and planned accordingly.
