Hi
Next verses

.   4 8  He asked the man who told him, ?Who is my mother, and who are my brothers??

49  Then pointing with his hand at his disciples, he said, ?Here are my mother and my brothers,

50  because whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother

This is a hard saying to me it means our spiritual family is the most important our Lord is our Father the church his bride our mother and we are the children and if we are a part of this family our earthly families  and everyone else will benefit because we will Love them with a godly love and not only them but everyone one else including our enemies.
So let us spread God's love among our fellow man

Love and Peace
Dave
'Then one said unto Him,
"Behold, Thy mother and Thy brethren stand without,
desiring to speak with Thee."

But He answered and said unto him that told Him,
"Who is my mother? and
who are my brethren?
"
And He stretched forth His hand toward His disciples,
and said, "Behold My mother and My brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of My Father which is in heaven,
the same is My brother, and sister, and mother"
.'
(Matthew 12:47-50)

Hello @Dave,

Again you have said what is not in the text.  I have not looked back at your previous entries, but I have the horrible feeling that you have done this to all of the words of the Lord Jesus you have covered so far.  You have added your own understanding to the text.

This is not teaching what you ascribe to it, Dave, and therefore, sadly, you are mistreating the word of God. I will not return to this thread, for I fear I will see more of the same. But I ask you to please read what is written and stick to the text, if you want to honour God's word.

In Christ Jesus
Chris

@Winnie

Thank you for your reply but it you had read my first post on this thread you would have seen this thread was about giving our view of what our lords words mean to you personally it was not meant to be a debate as such.
Or are you saying we should not contemplate God's word and think about it and look for deeper meaning or are we only to listen to the popes archbishop's and priest and not have a mind of our own.
My post above was to show love to God his church and all those outside and I find nothing wrong in this God is LOVE.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
As you can see I have split this topic as I feel it is a very important subject the question being are we allowed to have our own thoughts about God's word does it only mean what a surface reading gives.
I personally believe there is a lot more to scripture than what a surface reading gives us for myself
I believe what we say has to be in line with God's word a nd the underlying themes are Love and creation.
What we do know is that everyone who posts on here has different views on what God's words means to them and there is nothing wrong in that so long as it agrees with scripture.
If we are going to say someone has said something wrong then please give your explanation of why you think it's wrong just say someone is wrong without an explanation is not very helpful.

For myself I believe there is a great depth of meaning in scripture and to support this I would like to use something St Paul said.

.    9  For in the Law of Moses it is written, ?You must not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.? God is not only concerned about oxen, is he? (Compare)

10  Isn?t he really speaking for our benefit? Yes, this was written for our benefit, because the one who plows should plow in hope, and the one who threshes should thresh in hope of sharing in the crop

So you see there is more to scripture than meet the eye

Love and Peace
Dave
