Bah humbug!
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

Bah humbug!

Thank you Francis
Is the following humbug.

6  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this

Love and Peace

Hi
So what about Christmas it seams to me that in general it has nothing to do with the birth of Christ and Gods wonderful gift to mankind its all about money about buying thing we can't afford up our credit limit so that the rich can rub their hands with glee.
I have read that if it was not for Christmas many companies would go bust in the media very little is anything is said about the true meaning of Christmas.
As I understand it the first father Christmas was St Nicholas who went around giving gifts to the poor and needy those in need not the rich and wealthy if we could get back to this concept maybe it would be a better way of showing Gods gift to the world.

Love and Peace
Dave

Several years ago I posted about Samaritan's purse Shoe Box appeal and got shouted down for it.

Challenge your church to fill a shoebox with some toys, basic hygiene kit, basic education stuff and donate it with a cash donations to a child somewhere in the world who will not be celebrating Christmas.

Or one could donate to the MorningStar children's charity in South Africa, they look after orphans with big.

I it is this country try Caring for Life they care for findable adults and need support.

That is three practical ways of giving to those who really do need help.

In my experience those who moan about Christmas don't do anything about giving.

So how about a count of how many shoeboxes each church represented here donates?
