Hi Wincam
What Bible do you use I usually KJV which says.

Exo 20:1  And God spake all these words, saying,
Exo 20:2  I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

God and Lord are used here no mention of Jesus as such but then we have this from St Paul which is about Jesus.

Col_1:16  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

So I think It reasonable to believe it was Jesus Moses met on the Mountain.

Love and Peace
Dave

Was it Jesus who gave Moses the 10 commandments? Which set....the 1st or 2nd when he had to haul himself back up the mountain twiddling his foot as he had bust the 1st set...oopsy 🙄

Is that the new covenant fulfilling and replacing the old covenant. Where Jesus said new wine will burst the old wineskins.
Jesus said "before Abraham I am". He must have given Moses the 10 commandments, under the law and then Jesus came Himself to fulfill the law through Grace.
So if we love God and love our neighbours, love our enemies we fulfill the 10 commandments and more, through one commandment "Love ."

By grace, not out of obligation,not out of duty and not  because we earn our Salvation. We don't have to, for Christ paid the penalty for us when we respond at heart and so by grace is out of wanting to.

Jesus knew how to celebrate and showed that in His illustrations. We are not bound by the law but set free by Christ and His grace.

Yes see putting my muse cap on...regarding the 2 sets of commandments given, the written on stone ones.  Much of the Old Testament is either type/prophesy/symbolism of the New merging them all together or displaying man's abilities or lack off to be able to do things properly.

I wonder if the breaking of the 1st set of stone commandments by Moses was just the illustration of man's inability to keep all the law and that the only way to be able to fulfill the law is as you wrote about with Jesus' commandments on love, and we know how love never fails and conquers all.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A separate sidenote i been thinking and musing about regarding the written word and spoken word in respect of creation and bringing things into being..ie these stone commandments...
Normarily....it is the Father whom speaks things into being.  Creates with his verbalised word.  Also note Proverbs (spirit of wisdom) that there is power of life and death by what comes off your tongue (words).
Now Jesus...liked to write.  Wrote in the sand, i believe was Him writing on the wall in the Book of Daniel and indeed the stone commandments given to Moses.
Go further and where speaks of through Him (Jesus) all things were made, could be he wrote it then the Father spoke it from Genesis to Revelation and beyond.  God the Father is certainly speaking to at least one other after creating man and wo-man.  Will pause the muse there dont want to get too carried away! Cool thread.
Much love, light and peace 💖🔥
Hi
Who gave the tablets of the commandments to Moses I don't thing it matters what dose matter is where did the words on the tablets come from I say from God the father they are his words as are all the words of scripture even our Lord said.
Joh 8:26  I have much to say about you and much to judge, but he who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him.?
Joh 8:27  They did not understand that he had been speaking to them about the Father.
Joh 8:28  So Jesus said to them, ?When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me.
So everything Jesus said was not his words but the words of God the father and this applies to all of scripture it is the spirit of God the Father speaking through the prophets and apostles and we know these words are true and we should not go beyond what is written.
Love and Peace
Dave
Oh everything matters davetaff.  Each action, word, place, person etc used by God matters and has significance of some level, shape and form.
The Father creates and also through Jesus all things are made.  Jesus was only made lower than the angels for His mission on this earth.
Which spirit of God are you referring to speaking through the prophets etc...he has a few and each used at different times for different purposes.
The Bible is the word of God but not an idol set apart from God or the entirity of God or his word, lest you limit a 'omni' God.
FYI i dont limit myself to hearing God within the few books we have collated in what is known as the Bible.  As my signature strip states...i believe God can use anything, anywhere, anytime, anyone, anyhow for His good and purpose....because He can.  So i dont oblige to any form of subliminal conscious or unconscious warnings/restrictions of some odd religious rulings etc etc
