The English word 'neighbour' is a translation in the NT of the Greek word πλησίον, or 'playsion'. It's an adjective, meaning a 'person who is near, or neighbouring'.

So rather than being the title of the person who lives in the next house to yours, as in English, in the Greek it's a word used to describe a person's position. So, anyone you meet, basically.

Hi Cacadores
Thank you for that explanation sounds good to me anyone and everyone is our neighbour friend and enemy alike we should offer the hand of Love and friendship to all as our lord has taught us.

Mat 5:43  Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Mat 5:44  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Mat 5:45  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Love and Peace
Dave

Yes. And it's wonderful to live in a place where people believe that. And distressing to live somewhere they don't.

Love, and be judged.

Never forget the second part.

Hi Cacadores
Thank you for your reply the world I'm speaking of is the new earth and heaven God will create after the millennium into which he will place the man he has created in his image into the paradise of God.
Everyone will have been judged by then

Love and Peace
Dave

Indeed they will.

But now be as the birds of the air. Do they worry about who will provide for them?

Hi Cacadores
Was reading this passage and thought of this thread.

. 8  Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

9  For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

10  Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law

So let us love one another.

Love and Peace
Dave
