yes but what did Paul mean - Jesus clearly said 'I have come not to destroy the law but to fulfil it and no new commandment give I unto you - wincam

Hi Wincam
Thank for your reply maybe this may help.

. Rom 10:5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them

We know that Christ fulfilled the law he was without sin and he lives.
Our Lord also said.

. Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled

So the law remains and still must be fulfilled what does that mean I think maybe it will be fulfilled through Christ and his Church in the last day.
When the law was given to Israel it had consequences if you broke the law there was punishment and if you broke one law you broke the whole law I also believe it only one person sinned in Israel all Israel sinned Israel is God's son and as such must be perfect as Christ is perfect.
I believe that the beatitudes given by our Lord tells us how we can comply with the law and sums up everything with

.  30  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (Compare)

31  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these

The other difference is the law given to Israel had consequences the commandments given by our Lord are followed by forgiveness if we repent which means when Christ comes we can stand spotless before God.

Love and Peace
Dave

. 15  If ye love me, keep my commandments

I have wondered if our Lord was referring to the beatitudes he gave on the mountain Moses went up a mountain to get the commandments our Lord went up a mountain to give the beatitudes are they his commandments are the one and the same?
The Commandments are all repeated in the New Testament except for the Sabbath day.
