Did Jesus give Moses the ten commandments[Jn 14:15] - wincam

Hi Wincam
Thank you for your question what does the scriptures say.

.     12  And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them

As we see it was the Lord that gave them not very helpful but we know all things come from the Father through Christ and we know all things were created by him and for him so it seems reasonable to believe that the ten commandments were given through Christ.

As for your quote from John.

. 15  If ye love me, keep my commandments

I have wondered if our Lord was referring to the beatitudes he gave on the mountain Moses went up a mountain to get the commandments our Lord went up a mountain to give the beatitudes are they his commandments are the one and the same?

Love and Peace
Dave

the sermon  on the mount is NT - there is there no doubt there that the Word of God  spoke as and for God but who spoke at 'thus saith the Lord' in the OT and especially at Ex20:1-4 and is this what Moses wrote [Jn 5:46] that was and is unaccepted and unacceptable - wincam

Hi Wincam
Came across this verse thought it would be relevant

Exo 33:22  and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by.
Exo 33:23  Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen.?

as we know no one can see God the father and live so it seams to me that Moses was with God the father on the mountain besides plenty of people have seen Christ and lived.
so it seams pretty sure that Moses received the law from God the father.

Love and Peace

this is the claimed fallacy no one has seen or can see Christ in all His glory  as God 'in the glory I had with THEE before the world was - even at His transfiguration they fell to the ground and hid and covered their eyes just as at Mt.Sinai - Jesus was incarnate before He dwelt among us - it seems He had hand and wrote with his finger and feet and walked and talked in the garden of Eden etc - so back to my post - wincam

Hi Wincam
Thank you for your reply as for your question maybe the following will help.

1Co 9:21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law

Seems there is a law of God and a law of Christ according to St Paul.

Love and Peace

yes but what did Paul mean - Jesus clearly said 'I have come not to destroy the law but to fulfil it and no new commandment give I unto you - wincam
