Hi
The warnings continue

Mat 10:17  But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
Mat 10:18  And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

Even today these warnings are still relevant in many countries of the world to preach the word will bring ridicule and even imprisonment even in the more civilised countries we who believe will be laughed at and ridiculed but we must stand firm and pray God will give us the words to answer our adversaries.
Never forgetting

Mat_24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

so the sooner we get the gospel to the ends of the earth the sooner our Lord will return.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on

.      19  But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

20  For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

21  And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death

So how should we answer those who ask us even those who ridicule us and put us down let us search our minds for the words given to us and even the words of scripture we have been given all we need to answer the sceptics.
Not forgetting the words we speak are not our own but the words of scripture which are the words of God.
So who are the brothers dose this verse have spiritual meanings are the brother's Israel and Christ Israel was instrumental in putting Christ to death.
The father here is Again Israel the child is Christ who is the son of man the man of course Israel.

The children mentioned here are the followers of Christ who in the first instance went and preached the gospel to the Jews many of them especially the ruling classes refused to believe as a result the Romans overthrew Israel and as a result Israel died in 70 AD

Hi
The next section I find a little hard so if anyone has anything to add please do.

. 22  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

23  But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come

To be disliked even hated for being a Christian has been found to be true through history and even today we are not accepted in many countries of the world and even here in th t UK the government is against Christianity.

Although fleeing to other cities may not be an option if we have left the gospel message and it has been rejected and we have been ridiculed or attacked then it is best to move on.
It's the last part of verse 23 that has me puzzled the only thing I can think of is that all the town's and cities of Israel had not received the gospel when Israel ceased to be in 70 AD now that Israel has been reinstated the preaching can continue which would mean the coming of our Lord is not to far of.

Hi
Next

.   24  The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

25  It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household

Here we are told to know our place our master is Jesus of course we should keep ourselves with in the limits of what he has taught us to keep to his words and not go beyond them.
So let us keep within the parameters of the word of God for which we will be ridiculed and called all sorts of names as was our master and if they have done so to our master we should not be surprised if it happens to us.

Hi
More wise words from our Lord.

.    26  Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

27  What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops

So we should not fear what men do to us we are in the Lord we are safe we have a wonderful future ahead of us.
And we have this wonderful assurance that everything will be revealed in its time everything the scriptures tells us will be made plain if we look carefully we will see all the prophecies of scriptures unfold before our eyes so look at the thing happening in the world around us in the light of the scriptures knowing that every fulfilment brings us closer to the return of our Lord in power and glory.
And take every opportunity to preach the word of truth which we find in the bible read it in private but speak it in public.

Love and Peace

Hi davetaff,

There are wonderful promises in trusting in God. Maybe before people did rely more on God, and His harmonious principles. Even if they didn't realise it.

Today more people seem to rely on human principles, that are incomplete and injust, that is legalistic and of the world.

That's how so many suffer injustices and I find all the present day legalism absolutely abhorrent, with all the lawsuits instead of relying on God, and counting on God as the judge. For perfection.

In the past it seems that this was foretold  about the present days and in the scriptures you have written down.

It is a comfort to see how God foretold of the world today and tells us of His harmony and resolutions in waiting on Him and His ways, having humble and forgiving ways.

Not the ways of the world, which show an absence of faith and  absence of reliance on Him , resulting in brutal behaviour, much as Paul had written to Timothy, about these days.

Hi Christianna
thank you for your reply yes you are right we have more laws than we know what to do with but they do not help crime and violence is on the increase God proved with Israel that crime and punishment dose no work so he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ into the world to show us a better way Love if we Love as we should we fulfil the Law.

On to the next section.

Mat 10:28  And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Mat 10:29  Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.
Mat 10:30  But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.

Here we are told not to fear what men can do to us it is  not the body of flesh that's important it's the soul our spirit this they cannot kill only God has power over it.
Next we are told that God even has control over all Life even the birds of the air all life is under his watchful eye nothing happens he dose not know about and cares for so how much longer will God tolerate what mankind is doing to the natural world.
Our heavenly father cares for us his children he Knows every hair on our head and all are numbered how wonderful is that.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on

.    31  Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

32  Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33  But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven      [/color

.   How highly do our Father value us very highly I would think when we consider everything he has done for us the crowning glory of which is the sacrifice of his beloved son.
So how should we repay this great love by always standing up for him no matter what the cost to ourselves and he will do the same for us before the Father.
But if we do not confess him before men he will deny us before our Father which is in heaven.
So we who are the body of Christ should stand united as one and always praise him before unbelievers.

Love and Peace
Dave
