Hi
Well here we are again anyone want to join in feel free starting to feel a bit lonely on here.

Mat 5:29  If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.
Mat 5:30  And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.

These are very hard words are they not I don't think its your Eye or your hand that sins so much as the thoughts they produce sinful thoughts lustful thoughts wanting things we can't afford so we do sinful things to acquire them I think we are all guilty of this at some time or another I know I am.
So let us seek forgiveness through our Lord Jesus Christ and always strive to do better in our daily lives let us strive to walk as Christ did to the best of our ability and when we fail seek the forgiveness our lord has provided.

Love and Peace

Hi
Next

Mat 5:31  ?It was also said, ?Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.?
Mat 5:32  But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

These are very hard words in today's promiscuous society where people change partners like a square dance are our Lords words still applicable I believe so Gods laws do not change over time they are Gods word only we change them when we fail to comply with them should  the oaths we take at the alter before God last a lifetime ? .

Love and Peace

Hi
Next section.

Mat 5:33  ?Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ?You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.?
Mat 5:34  But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God,
Mat 5:35  or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
Mat 5:36  And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.
Mat 5:37  Let what you say be simply ?Yes? or ?No?; anything more than this comes from evil.

This is hard to understand I suppose it boils down to not taking the Lords name in vain it's so easy to say things like " I swear to God" when we don't mean it but how dose God see it so let us watch our tongue and think before we speak just lets stick to Yes and no and follow the good advice of our Lord.
Let us turn away from evil and do good.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on

.    38  Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39  But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40  And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.

41  And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42  Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away

These are hard words to follow in this world which seams to preach the opposite meet aggression with more aggression.
The underlying message of the above text is Love thy neighbour the underlying message of the beatitudes is love.
Interesting to note that that Moses went up a mountain to bring the law and our Lord went up a mountain to give us the beatitudes
Which are the laws of love.

Love and Peace

Hi
Thank you TJ for your reply yes what wonderful words we Have from our Lord Here's a few more.

Love Your Enemies

Mat 5:43  Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Mat 5:44  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Mat 5:45  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Mat 5:46  For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
Mat 5:47  And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
Mat 5:48  Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

These are hard words to live up to complete opposite to what the world teaches which is hit back knock down destroy your enemy show no mercy.
we are commanded to Love our enemies and to do good to them to humble ourselves and to pray for our enemies and take the example of our heavenly father who shows no partiality and shows Love to all the good and the evil.
there is no reward for loving those who love you that's easy but to love your enemies is what's needed as the father showed us while we were still sinners Christ died for us so let us follow the ways of the father which is in heaven.

Love and Peace

Hi TJ
thank you for your reply not an easy question to answer If we look at the above scriptures I  have quoted it dose say love your enemies likewise dose God Love his enemies it seams he must do satan is still with us maybe the answer is in the parable of the prodigal son perhaps our Father is awaiting satans return and will welcome him with open arms.

No the other hand we have.

Rev 20:10  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

It seams that satan and his helpers will continue to live in the lake of fire being tormented day and night the question being what  is the lake of fire ????

Love and Peace
Dace
