Hi
Moving on

Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.  Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
Matthew 26:33-‬34 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.26.33-34.KJV

How often are we like Peter saying we will stand our ground and stand up for our Lord in company then shrink away when it comes to the crunch.
Then our Lord tells Peter the truth of what will happen and does happen but what a fantastic difference there is after the resurrection nothing in heaven or earth could affect their faith.

Hi
Moving on

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.  And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.  Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
Matthew 26:36-‬38 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.26.36-38.KJV

Can we even imagine what must have been going through our Lords mind he was a man he knew exactly what was going to happen in the near future what he would be put through the pain the suffering and humiliation and death  on top of that he knew he was innocent of all wrong doing.
All this for a world full of sinners what fantastic LOVE

Hi
Moving on

And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
Matthew 26:39 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.26.39.KJV

We can  only imagine the mental anguish our Lord was going through that he prayed to the Father that he would not need to go through what awaited him.
Then we see the total obedience of our Lord to the Fathers will the lamb of God must be sacrificed for the sins of the world what fantastic Love is shown by Father and son through their great love for us we have forgiveness of our sins Whereby we gain entrance to the paradise of God prepared for us from the foundation of the world.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on

And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?   Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Matthew 26:40-‬41 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.26.40-41.KJV

What a truth this is we say many things we will do but when it comes to the crunch we let the flesh dictate what happens we allow problems of life to interfere  with our spiritual life.
Let us make sure we make time for our spiritual life put a little time aside for prayer and bible study.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on

And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.  And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.  Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.   Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
Matthew 26:43-‬46 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.26.43-46.KJV

Again our Lord finds his decipels asleep how easy it is to loose our concentration the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.
We see here that our Lord knew exactly what was going to happen to him he had asked the Father that the cup should pass from him but it was not the Fathers will it was nessarsery that he should go through one of the most horrible deaths devised by man for which we will be eternally grateful.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on

Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.  And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.  And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
Matthew 26:48-‬50 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.26.48-50.KJV

Here we have the betrayal of Jesus by Judus was all this part of Gods plan of course it was it was essential that our Lord should die for the sins of the world.
Its interesting that Jesus calls Judas his friend there don't seam to be any animosity on Jesus's part even though he knew what awaited him isn't love wonderful it can over ride all negative thoughts.

Hi
Moving on.

And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.  Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
Matthew 26:51-‬52 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.26.51-52.KJV

Here our Lord makes it very plain that violence is not the answer all killing in the name of the Lord is wrong and there has been a lot of killing in the Lords name over the years the crusades for example all killing is wrong.

We have a sword its called the word of God and with it the world will be conquered and many will be put to death through baptism and be reborn into the body of Christ so let us take our sword and use it at every opportunity.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Moving on

Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?   But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
Matthew 26:53-‬54 KJV
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.26.53-54.KJV

Here we see our Lord in complete control of the situation but it was absolutely essential for our sakes that he should follow the scriptures and what they had to say concerning him.
Everything  that had been prophesied about him had to be fulfilled to the letter and the OT is jammed pack full of prophesies telling us what he had to go through and he knew all this but gave himself willingly what great Love he had for us.

Love and Peace
Dave
