Hi
The next 2 verses

Mat 5:11  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Mat 5:12  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

It seams it is not easy to be a believer especially in this day and age it seams as soon as you say you are a believer people start to laugh and say your a fool not right in the head there is no God and things in a similar vain but we must stick to our guns and tell them plainly that there is a God that he Loves us and we Love him.
And if we stand our ground he will reward us for what we suffer in this life And trust his Promise Great is your reward in Heaven.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Moving on if any one would like to join in please do

Mat 5:13  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Of course Salt is a preservative and here Christ is likening his followers as salt by remaining in Christ and following his commands to Love they would salt and preserve unbelievers and bring them to Christ and this process go's no today we can also salt those around us by showing God's Love in how we live so let us shake out the salt of Gods word.

Just like to add this salt also preserves to eternal life now wonderful is that.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Thank you TJ for the link I will have a look.

The next verse.

Mat 5:14  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

This reminds of what God said in the beginning Let there be Light and there was light I believe  this light was Jesus Christ through whom and for whom all things are created and now we are part of his Body we help to light the whole world his light and his Love shine in us and may it do so more and more with each passing day.

Love and Peace
Dave

Relationship..

But the Light here on a hill or table are metaphor's / examples/ comparisons...

The Light speaking was Jesus and the light given was literal or can be seen as Jesus/revelation/or simply the sun/creation/ the revealing of God in creation/ the ongoing revelation of God in our lives..

It's the scent of Christ's aroma permeating from us - as in 2 Corinthians 2:16 : To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?

So to some here, you are death /darkness/ - yet to others you are life/light/Light.

As Paul was bilinded by the Light on his journey, so he saw darkness and then light.

Once I was blind but now I see - etc

Hi TH
Thank you for your post a good read and a blessing to many and thank you for the link another good read.

The next words of our lord.

.        15  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house

When we enter the body of our Lord he lights us as you would a candle but he does not light us for us to hide away he lights us and lifts us up so his glorious light will shine on those around us so they will be attracted to the light and seek the giver of light.
Reminds of Moses when he came down the mountain his face shone so bright the Israelites could not look at him he had to wear a veil they refused to look at the wonderful light of God's law.

Love and Peace

Hi
Next verse.

Mat 5:16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Following on from the last verse The light you have been given from above make sure you let it shine through the things that you do and the life that you lead following in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus who loved us so let us Love our fellow man as he commanded us

Mat_22:39  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself

So let us Love as he loved us.

Love and Peace
Dave
