Hi
Next section

They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long,  and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues  and greetings in the marketplaces and being called rabbi  by others.
Matthew 23:5-‬7 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/mat.23.5-7.ESV

How true of many churches of to day all gold and glitter priest dressed like Kings and living like Kings.
Our Lord had nowhere  to lay is head he came to serve not to be served he is our example he told the rich man to sell everything  he had and give it to the poor and follow him some churches would do well to to follow this advice.
The true temple of the Lord is the body of believers who is of far greater worth than all the riches of the world.

Love and peace

Hi
Moving on.

8But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers. 9And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. 10Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ. 11

this is very informative is it not seams to me we are all equal we are all brothers and sisters in Christ and we have only one teacher Christ no other person and everything he teaches are written for us in the scriptures and we should not go outside these words.
when we were baptised we died to our old life and were reborn into the body of Christ and Christ is the son of God so God becomes our Father through Christ.
we should not become instructors  we have only one instructor and that is Jesus Christ so we should keep to the words he has given us from Genesis to revelations and not go outside them.
So all these different denominations should throw out all  their man made theology and get back to basics which is.

?You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38This is the great and first commandment. 39And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. 40On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.?

Godly Love is the answer to all human  problems.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Moving on

The greatest among you shall be your servant.  Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
Matthew 23:11-‬12 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/mat.23.11-12.ESV

What a wonderful lesson in humility  given to us by our lord how far he lowered himself to serve  us even unto death on the cross .
So we need to follow his example and love and help our fellow man at every opportunity  how can we humble ourselves  in a world were we are taught  to be the biggest and the best from an early  age.
When we enter the body of Christ we take on his humility  and serve our fellow man at every opportunity.

Love and Peace

Hi
Next section

?But woe   to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you   shut the kingdom of heaven in people?s faces. For you   neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.   Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell  as yourselves.
Matthew 23:13, ‬15 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/mat.23.13-15.ESV

I wonder what our lord would have to say about all the leaders of the different  denominations  today all saying different  things instead of love and unity.
How can the ordenary  man take them seriously  when they cannot show love for one another  but fight and squabble  over trivial matters.
They all need to get back to what the scriptures say and do it the hierarchy  of the different denominations  need to humble themselves and learn to love one another and give a practical  lesson to the rank and file.

Love and Peace

Hi
Getting back on track.

?Woe to   you,   blind guides, who say,   ?If anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.?  You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that has made the gold sacred?  And you say, ?If anyone swears by the altar, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gift that is on the altar, he is bound by his oath.?  You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred?  So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.  And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and by him who dwells in it.  And whoever swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him who sits upon it.
Matthew 23:16-‬22 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/mat.23.16-22.ESV

Here our Lord continues  hie complaints  of the priest hood of his day where they had fixed the focus of there worship from the temple and its alter to the things brought into it for sacrifice and the gold of the temple loosing sight of the God who resided there.
Its different now our temple is the body of Christ we are the stones that are built on the chief corner stone which is Jesus Christ our Lord.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on

?Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For   you tithe mint and dill and   cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law:   justice and mercy and faithfulness.   These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.  You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!
Matthew 23:23-‬24 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/mat.23.23-24.ESV

Here our Lord continues in the same vain against the scribes and Pharisees  that they concentrated  their  attention on the small details  of service but neglected the important  parts of the law.
For us the most important part of the law was given to us by our Lord when he said.

And he said to him, ?You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the great and first commandment.  And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.?
Matthew 22:37-‬40 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/mat.22.37-40.ESV

So if we wish to keep the law we must follow these commands  from our Lord Love is the fulfillment  of the law.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on.

Mat 23:25  ?Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
Mat 23:26  You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.
Mat 23:27  ?Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness.

Our Lord has still things to Say about the scribes and Pharisees I think what he is saying is on the outside they look fine all clean in their ceremonial robes fine linin gold braid etc but it is not that what is important its what's on the inside that counts what's in the heart if there is Love for God and our fellow man this is what God looks at so they and us need to look at what's on the inside its the inside that needs to be cleansed and this is done by washing with the word of God this is the only way we can clean the inside.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Moving on

So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.    ?Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous,
Matthew 23:28-‬29 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/mat.23.28-29.ESV

How much of this condemnation  can apply to today how many of our great churches and cathedrals have been used for the veneration and worship of the saints many of these buildings  have become tourist attractions.
Dose our God need all this glitter and gold after all he is the creator of everything in heaven and earth is there anything we can give him that he would want or need there is only one thing and thats our love this is the only thing God requires of us that we Love him and our fellow man.

Love and Peace
