Hi
Moving on

.          18  Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

19  And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again

Here our Lord informs his disciples of what is going to happen to him when he comes to Jerusalem things that had been prophesied before in the OT it was absolutely necessary for him to go through all the above and more even death on the cross.
But after all this there is good news on the third day he would rise from the dead which of course he did and showed himself to many witnesses who have testified to the fact so there can be absolutely no doubt
Christ is risen and will come again to take to himself all those who are his.

Hi
Moving on

.
20  Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

21  And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

22  But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

23  And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father

Here we see how certain the plan of God's Creation is even to those who will sit at our Lord's left and right side in the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This kingdom is Christ millennial reign when he will reign as king of kings and all this has been planned from the beginning of creation

.     Heb 4:3 We who have believed are entering that rest, just as he has said, ?So in my anger I swore a solemn oath that they would never enter my rest,? even though his actions had been finished since the creation of the world

As we can see from the last part of this verse  everything has been finished from the beginning of creation as for God's rest this is Christ's millennial reign when God hands everything over to Christ to finish the
 creation.

So let us make our goal to enter into our heavenly Father rest at the coming of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Hi
Moving on

.    25  But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

 26  But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

27  And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

28  Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many

Here our Lord teaches his disciples about humility to follow his example he came down from heaven and was made lower than the angles he came into the world as a servant and we have to follow his example we must serve our fellow man and follow the command you shall love your neighbour as yourself.
We must be ready to do good to our fellow man.

Hi
Moving on

.   1  And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,

2  Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.

3  And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them

Here we see our Lord making absolutely sure the he complied with the prophecies which had been written about himself.

.    Zec 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass

It's wonderful how many prophecies were fulfilled by our Lord all of them given hundreds of years in advance of his coming what more proof could anyone want all of them prove that Jesus Christ is the son of God The savior of the world.

Hi
Moving on

.     13  And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves

I have wondered how our Lord will view the churches of to day with all there glitter and gold many of them turned into tourist attractions.
But what is the true church is it not the body of Christ all believers who are being built up into the true tabernacle where Christ will reside.

Hi
Moving on

.
16  And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise

This can be read in the book of psalms

.     Psa 8:2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger

Who are the enemy and avenger I would say the priesthood and ruling classes who refused to believe who he is but when the youngsters saw the things our Lord was doing they believed and they praised God.

There can be another meaning to this prophesy when we die in baptism and are reborn we become babes in Christ and sing his praises and let us continue to sing his praises as we grow in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hi
Next section

.  19  And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. note

20  And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!

21  Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

22  And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive

A strange little section of course it shows the power of God  if we have faith the question is do we have complete faith 100% on doubting or is there always that little nagging doubt in the back of our mind.
But our Lord shows us what complete faith can accomplish it we have faith like him we can ask the Father for anything according to his will and he will do it.

There maybe a higher meaning to this the fig tree could represent Israel our Lord came to Israel first but Israel rejected him and in 70 AD Israel as a nation ceased to exist.

Hi
Moving on

.  23  And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?

24  And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

25  The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?

26  But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

27  And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things

Here we have the priesthood questioning our Lord's authority they refused to believe what was before there eyes very good work our Lord had done they closed their eyes to.
They would not even acknowledge John the Baptist although that had OT prophecies telling of his coming.

.   Mal 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts

Mal 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD
