Hi
Moving on.

Mat 16:18  And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.?
Mat 16:20  Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

The question here is was it Peter who was the rock or the truth he spoke that Christ was the son of God I believe it was the latter it was the gospel that Peter and the other apostels would preach to the world this was the rock, that Jesus Christ is the son of God.
The gospel is also the key to the kingdom of heaven when a person accepts the gospel he receives the key that opens the door to the kingdom.
why did Christ tell his disciples not to tell anyone at that time may be it was only those whom the Father revealed him to as he did Peter maybe it was because he expected the Jews to Know who he was their Messiah.
But after his resurrection they were sent out to preach who he was from the roof tops  to the whole world.

Hi
Moving on

.
21  From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

22  Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. note

23  But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men

Here Christ starts to foretell of his death and resurrection which Peter would not accept it and rebuked him but was it Peter or was it satan that gave him the words to speak our Lord rebuked satan not Peter what can we learn from this.
To think very carefully before we speak to ascertain where the words are coming from are they words of love to our fellow man of are they negative words of hate and evil intent so let us choose the words of love.
So let us make sure we stay in the body of Christ and keep satan at arms length.

Love and peace

Hi
Next verses

.   24  Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

As we see it is not easy to be a follower of Christ it will mean sacrifice especially in the world to day you will be made fun of ridiculed in some countries you could be put in prison or even killed so it's not easy to be a Christian
But if we deny Christ to save our life we will lose our eternal life but if we lose our physical life for his sake  we will receive eternal life.
So whatever the world throws at us let us repulse it but always to remember to do it with love.

Love and peace

Hi
Moving on

.     26  For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27  For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28  Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom

As we are seeing all over the world men are chasing after money and can never get enough but if we put all this wealth into one pot you could not but one soul.
At the other end of the scale there are children in the third world who don't have a cup of clean water that we have a third world is a disgrace these wise words from St Paul come to mind.

.   1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows

But when our Lord returns with all his angels to reward everyone for the works they have done so we need to think very carefully what we do what we think and what we say an make sure we remain in the body of Christ.

Verse 28 is speaking of the day of his return when all those who are his will be gathered to him some more lovely words from St Paul.

.      51  Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (Compare)

53  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55  O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? note

56  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

Hi
On to the next section not all the words of our Lord but a very important part of scripture.

1  And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2  And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3  And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4  Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5  While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6  And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7  And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

8  And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

9  And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead

Here we have three eye witnesses to the transfiguration of our Lord we have their testimony of what they saw Moses and Elias and our Lord shining as the sun must have been a unforgettable sight then on top of that the voice of our heavenly Father out of the cloud " this is my beloved son " it would be something they could never forget.

Strange our Lord told them to keep it a secret till after his resurrection then they could tell everyone Jew and Gentile alike what a wonderful proof of who Christ was and is.

Hi
Moving on

.  11  And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

12  But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them

Elias is the same as Elijah one of the OT prophets the thing about Elijah is he did not die.

.   2Ki 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven

So Elijah remains in heaven until he returns to earth as John the Baptist to prepare the way for our Lord Jesus Christ and it seemed many listened to John and were baptized in the Jorden river but the ruling classes and the priesthood did not and had him killed and they would do the same with Christ and Christ knew exactly what was going to happen and why.
The first prophesy we have of our Lord death and resurrection we have in Genesis

21  And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; (Compare)

22  And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man

This happens to the first Adam it would also happen to the last Adam the deep sleep he suffered on the cross when he died when the Roman soldier pieced his side water the word of God and blood the Holy Spirit came out and from these his bride the church was created.
And when our Lord returns and is united with his bride and they become one then we will have man in the image of God The end of creation.

Hi

Moving on

.    15  Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

16  And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

17  Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

18  And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

19  Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

20  And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you

Here our Lord is not to happy with his disciples because of there lack of faith here we see the boy's mental.problems were caused by the devil whom Christ rebuked proving his power over evil.
It's strange that the disciples had seen everything our Lord had done but still had doubts may be they would have to wait till after the resurrection to really believe that Jesus was the son of God that they would have 100% faith which can remove mountains.
How much faith do we have?

Hi
Moving on

Mat 17:22  As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, ?The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men,
Mat 17:23  and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.? And they were greatly distressed.

Here Jesus tells his disciples of his coming death and resurrection this was to fulfil the scriptures he had to follow in the path of the first Adam who was put to sleep to create the woman and so Christ was put to sleep on the cross and the woman his bride was created from his death and resurrection.
at the same time the first covenant was annulled and a new covenant was put in place.

Love and Peace
