Hi
Next section

Mat 16:1  And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
Mat 16:2  He answered them, ?When it is evening, you say, ?It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.?
Mat 16:3  And in the morning, ?It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.? You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.
Mat 16:4  An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.?

I think this can just as easily apply to today as it did when our lord said these words we can turn on the tv and get the weather  forecast and the news and the things happening in the world today or we can open our bibles and read what is happening and what is going to happen the whole history of mankind is laid out before us  here's a little snippet there is a lot more.

Mat 24:5  For many will come in my name, saying, ?I am the Christ,? and they will lead many astray.
Mat 24:6  And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7  For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
Mat 24:8  All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.
Mat 24:9  ?Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake.
Mat 24:10  And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another.
Mat 24:11  And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.
Mat 24:12  And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.
Mat 24:13  But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
Mat 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Then we have the sign of Jonah of course this is a reference to the three days in the tomb as Jonah was in the whale I think there is another side to this when Christ was taken up to heaven he was separated from mankind and this will last until the third day ( a day being a 1000 years ) we are jest entering the third day so maybe we will not have to long to wait.

Did Jesus speak in the OT - what did He say - wincam

Hi wincam
Thank you for your question we need to remember everything Jesus spoke came from the father

.    Joh 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. View more

Joh 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things

So did Jesus speak in the OT yes I believe so the whole of creation was through him and for him but everything he did and said came from the Father some times he spoke through angels but it makes on difference who spoke the words they all originated with the Father.
Christ is the word of God through him we have the scriptures but everything comes from God The Farther.

Hi
Moving on

.       And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

6  Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7  And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

8  Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

9  Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10  Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11  How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12  Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees

Here we have an important lesson things stated in scripture are not always what they seam and can easely be misunderstood.
As our Lord explains he was speaking about the teachings of the priest of his day they were not teaching what was right and true they were teaching their own doctoring and theology.
.I wonder what our Lord would say about all the different churches of today are they all teaching what is right or are they all injecting leaven into God's word leading many astray.
Is it time to dump the doctoring of men and get back to the word of God as we have it in the bible.

Hi Theo
Thank you for your reply good idea let's get back to basics.

Moving on

.       13  When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14  And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15  He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16  And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven

Here we have Christ confirming Peters statement that he is the Christ the son of God interesting that Peter did not come to this realization himself but it was given to him by the Father dose this apply to everyone these words come to mind.

.    Luk 11:10 because everyone who keeps asking will receive, and the person who keeps searching will find, and the person who keeps knocking will have the door opened

So if we seek and ask we will receive the knowledge we ask for from the Father via the Holy Spirit and the door will be opened and we enter into the church which is the body of Christ.

Love and peace

Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: We are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has, from the beginning, chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which you have been taught, whether by spoken word, or by our written epistle (there was no composite Bible until the invention of the printing press in the relatively recent 16th century).
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, who has loved us, and has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
