yes it is,according to the bible = where Peter is there is the Church. imho - twinc

Hi Wincam
I would say where Christ is there is the church what dose the Scriptures say.

Mat 16:15  He said to them, ?But who do you say that I am??
Mat 16:16  Simon Peter replied, ?You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.?
Mat 16:17  And Jesus answered him, ?Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
Mat 16:18  And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.?

So what was the rock was it Peter or was it what peter said I think it more likely what he said because there can only be one head of the church and that is Christ Jesus our Lord.

Love and Peace
Dave

Do you know you are in the right church/denomination, should you be in a different one?

Have you that feeling that you are the odd one out or that sensation that everyone but you is out of step.

Find out with:-

Put your mind at rest or have a laugh.

It is american so do allow for that.
I did it, and burst out laughing at the result.
Apparently I should be a Seventh Day Adventist, a church which undoubtedly would toss me out after the first meeting, although I do agree with a Saturday Sabbath.

Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

The link is a bit of fun that like most jokes contains an element of truth/reality.

While we are all part of the church invisible, we are also part of the church visible and should be practically part of the local church.
Which means meeting regularly with them. It was Jesus's custom to attend the local synagog, as it was Pauls.
Can we honestly say we are not seeking to imitate them?

If your only objection to the baptist church or methodist or CoE is money then that is not a reason not to be a member of any church.
We have been outside of church for about 12 years now, and have grown far more than ever we did inside. We have occasional fellowship over a meal with like minded believers who live an hour away.
There is no way we would set foot in any of the local churches, Anglican, Methodist, Catholic, as they like many are not walking with God.

Hi Frances
How can you be out side the church you are either part of the body of Christ or you are not and this applies to all those in all the different denominations it's whats in the heart where God looks if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ we will be saved its faith that saves us through the grace of God.
All denominations are at fault because they are separated by silly arguments they need to throw out all the man made theology and doctoring s and get back to the scriptures.

Well, Peter never went to Rome so it can't be popish. A church is whereever there is a Christian  communion.
