Hi Deborah
Thank you for your reply a good summing up of those verses.

1Jn 4:4  Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
1Jn 4:5  They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them.
1Jn 4:6  We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

V 4 Here John addresses us as little children as the children of God we were born of him when we were baptised into the body of Christ not only are we in Christ but he is in us and he is greater than him who is in the world which is satan so if we keep Christs commands we overcome satan as Christ did when he obeyed the fathers commands.
V 5 here he is speaking of the spirits of the world those sent out by satan which is meant to lead us away from God and the world listens to them this is why there is so much misery in the world because the world listens to the evil spirits instead of the spirit of God.
V 6 here John tells us we are from God who is the we I think it is those who are mature in Christ the apostles those who know God are those who have been baptised into the body of his dear son Jesus Christ.
Those who are outside the body do not listen to the word of God so it all boils down to which spirit we listen to the spirit of truth or the spirit of error.

The Church has  been attacked by many false teachings down the ages, but in general has remained true to the apostolic faith. False teachings have a great attraction, because they appeal to our worldly nature (the idea, for example, that only a small 'elite' group have the truth, and that the mainstream churches are all wrong). But no genuine Christian is likely to be deceived for long.

Hi Deborah
Thank you for your reply to which I agree.

. 7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.

8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him

V 7 Here we come to the answer to all the problems mentioned above the answer is Love if we love as we should then we know that Gods love is in us how wonderful is that.

V 8 if we do not love as our Lord Jesus commanded us then we have no part in God we do not know him and he dose not know us.

V 9 God has proved how much he loved us when he sent his beloved son into the world and everything he has done for us so that we can have life for eternity.

I'm not sure that love is the answer to all our problems - if we say things like that, we're in danger of making love into an idol. God is love, but love is not God.
Love is very very important, though! And the hallmark of Christianity is love for the un-lovable. "Love your enemies..." (Matthew 5:44) This is because God loves human beings - even though we are sinful, ungrateful rebels. We know that He loves us because Jesus came to die for us.
So a "Christian" who does not love anyone cannot be a true Christian. Our love is imperfect, of course; but there should be at least some evidence of God's love in the way we relate to other people.

Hi Deborah
thank you for your reply I can not think of any problem that Love would not solve.

1Jn 4:10  In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1Jn 4:11  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1Jn 4:12  No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

V 10 the important thing here is seeing how much God has loved us and what he has done for us through his beloved son Jesus Christ who he sent into the world to atone for our sins by his sacrifice on the cross.

V 11 we need to show Gods love by loving one another and loving God so let us love our fellow man from the heart God showed his love for us in that when we were still sinners Christ died for us.

V 12 we have not seen God but if we love one another as we are commanded to do the God abides in us so may his love and his light shine in us so that those living in darkness may see that light and turn to him and be saved.

Verse 10 is John's definition of Christian love.
Does the quality and degree of the love I show to others demonstrate anything at all of the greatness of God's love to me? It is in the love of Christians for one another that God's love is made visible to unbelievers.

Dave,
" I can not think of any problem that Love would not solve"
I'll give you plenty if you want them, but one will do for now.
                                     Any serious medical complaint.

We are not here to solve the worlds problems, brought about due to there rejection of God.
We are here to witness as Deborah says of Gods love to mankind.
