Driving home last night I was surprised, startled even to see the motorway signs displaying the warning.
"Dover Port Closed!"
Does this San the continent is cut off?

Hurrah, it just means that Brexit has finally worked.
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

Assuming you are English, you've just shown how useless the teaching of history is in this country.

The Normans built a castle theree to control entry into England.
King Charles 2 entered england at Dover as did William of Orange.
Even Top Gear filmed there attempt to drive cars across the channel at Dover.
The channel tunnel is at Dover.
When ever there is a strike involving the ferries the M20 becomes a giant car/lorry park.

So history, entertainment and current affairs all inform one about the geography of the UK.

Is San Serif anywhere near San Francisco?

I was brought up in Wales, not England. Different things taught in our schools. :D

San serif, the mystical 1/4 isle discovered by the Guardian many years ago. Its current location is unknown and there are fears it could have been re molded durring the fleet stret transformation.
