Easier for a camel to go threw the eye of a needle. God gives and the rich man seeks even more.Honered and envied for his wealth. He has such a great reword but doesn't know or yet care that he is in darkness. God gives acording to a mans heart and thats his desire. Who of us are having hard times and yet Got gives us riches that won't be covered in darkness when they threw dirt over our grave.Light is the gift that darkness can't take away and the want of the man that loveth God. His reword is eturnal and God seekes such but takes no pleasure in a man of darkness. Light is knowledge of God and given only by God and no flesh and blood can give such light. No thief can break into a mans house if he is in the light and no thief can take your reword of the heavens.

Just so long as you realise that we are the Rich Men.
In biblical times only the rich had more than they needed for daily living.

Do you have to think about what you spend on food Do you never have a luxury item, like chocolate, or  wine with dinner?

Wealth is an absolute, if you have more than is needed to cover daily living than that is wealth.

So how do we use our wealth?

If you think we are considered rich, what reward is left for us. Chocolet bars and every day food is not riches unless thats the desire of you heart. All men are pretty well equil with these things.

Colin,
Two thirds of the world live on a yearly income that many of us earn in a week or a month.

How do you define poverty and wealth?

I'll tell you what I think but you may not like.  Those people so poor, their not turned to the Lord and you would likely find those who have proble have more then ever, even if it is from food rel;ief. Will they go to heaven? the word has been preached to the far ends of the earth and if they are not christian , they are not even looked upon by the Lord. Its past now that we be misionary Christians. Just what I believe. Now is the time for waking up and turning to the Spirit.

Regards read your first post Colin, it concerns the wealthy who aren't serving God.

So what is the rich western Christian supposed to do?

its just like the rich young ruler who asked Jesus how to attain eturnal life. Sell everything and give it to the poor, and follow me he said. All in our sicity have heard the word, even on televation. sit at the very back at church and say little until your asked. The least will be the greatest and the first will be the last. The rich who do follod Jesus will be the poor the and the poor the rich in Spirit wealth. Less they give it all away.Lots of people do just before they die or in their will. I don't know how they have time to Follow the Lord then but they give their money and such to the church. You never know with God but we the middle or lower class are close to average.Look at where the priest walked by the poor man and the poor man ended up in the busum af Abraham, that means alive with the Spirit and the other one the bad side of the river crying for just a sip of water.

So you are starting to see that Christianity is not about pious claptrap, but about 'holy' living.

The next problem is this isn't about the other Christan but about us.
C.sLewes got it right when he had Aslam say,'I only tell you your story!'
