Hi Deborah
Thank you for a good post I can agree with what you say and of course this prophecy could well be written for today it's a very good description of the world today it is so very true of the world we live in.
Those help organisations you mention and many more around the world are doing good work and we should support them but the only answer to the great evil in the world is the return of Jesus Christ.
Our Lord had told us how it would be in the end time and his prophecy is so very true.

Love and Peace
Dave

Amos 5:14,15

(14) Seek good, not evil,
that you may live.
Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you,
just as you say he is.

(15) Hate evil, love good;
maintain justice in the courts.
Perhaps the LORD God Almighty will have mercy
on the remnant of Joseph.

When a nation (or church) is so set upon the path to destruction, its only escape route is repentance. Complacency is no substitute for assurance! They boasted of being God's people; but their corrupt lives showed that they had nothing in common with Him (I John 1:6). Those who want God to walk with them must walk with Him - in righteousness, both personally and corporately.

There was still opportunity for Israel to repent: to reform their law-courts, to promote justice once again. They were on the brink of disaster, but could still step back; there was still a chance that the destruction would not be total.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." (II Corinthians 12:9)

Strange isn't Dave how consistent the bible is in saying the same thing.
Repentance before God will forgive and restore.
How true Spirituality is seen in ones lifestyle.

If our nation would listen to this message of Amos, and the rest of the bible then they would know how to deal with many of the problems that plague our nation.

Even better if we listen and obey, revival always starts with the people of God and spreads out from them.

Hi John
Thanks for your reply I think you have that the wrong way round God offered the whole world forgiveness first through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ.
and yes we must repent to take advantage of the wonderful gift but it was God that made the first move.

Hi Deborah
Thank you for your post this quote from Amos is really for all ages seek the Lord do good  hate evil if only the whole world could take this advice to heart and turn to God what a wonderful world it would be.

Lets make sure that we follow these instructions and by so doing make the world a better place for Israel it seems they fell on deaf ears and in the end they lost everything even death as a nation so lets not follow there example.

Love and Peace

Dave,
"I think you have that the wrong way round God offered the whole world forgiveness first through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ."

There is a world of difference between offering and giving.

What is offered has to be accepted and that means repentance etc.

Hi John
Quite right as I have been saying all along God offers us for forgiveness he made the first move while we were still sinners Christ died for us he did not wait for all sinners to repent.

maybe we can keep this discussion to the other threads not to spoil Deborahs thread.

Love and Peace
