Who should we listen to.
« on: August 26, 2018, 04:25:17 PM »
Hi
Been thinking about this since I had this message from Deborah.
Quote
.   manmade doctoring and theology these are thing that can lead many astray and defile us
But Dave, that's like what you do with your speculations on the nature of God! We all have a theology of some kind. If you don't listen to the teaching of those who know what they're talking about (and who know the Bible much better than you and I do), in the end you just make up your own theology

Plus something Tara said that there are some 40,000 different denominations and sects in Christendom so the question is who shall we listen to who is giving us the right information.
Shall we stop thinking for ourselves and let someone else tell us what to believe who shall we turn to to teach us the truth the RCs CofE  the JW baptists etc who out of the 40,000 shall we turn to.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Another thing is all the books that have been written about Christianity which amount to thousands may be millions how much of this shall we believe.
For myself I think we should stick to what we have in the bible it is after all God's word not mans.

Trouble is Dave, you claim to be sticking to the bible, but then present a load of confusing gobbledegook that nobody else can see when they read the same verses.
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

Hi Frances
Thank you for your reply if as you say what I say is gobbledegook then all you have to do is give a better interpretation of the scripture I quote up to now nobody has I find that encouraging.
My interpretation is quite simple to simple maybe which is creation is still on going and the end of creation is Christ as the scriptures tell plainly.

Carry on Dave, I could do with a decent fairy story to send me to sleep tonight.

Hi Frances
Sorry I forgot you have a fairy story of your own see if I have it right.
Does it go something like this God sapped everything into existence in 6 24 your days then put his feet up and took a well earned rest and has been resting ever since.

Hi
Lets let sleeping dogs lie  and move on something Deborah said on another thread got me thinking she said

so many different denominations and sects all saying there way is the right way hard to know who to believe

This is a mantra repeated by an awful lot of people on the Internet, but I've never found it to be true in 45 years of being a Christian. It's only a handful of cults (like the JWs) who insist that they alone have the 'right' way. Ordinary Christians like me change denomination quite easily (I've gone through Baptist, Pentecostal, New Frontiers, Anglican and back to Baptist again) - some things differ, but the basic core is the same.

I was thinking dose it matter so much if different preachers preach in different ways so long as it leads people to Christ that the core truths of scripture are taught and those that are taught come to Love God and their fellow man.
God judges the heart if we have love in our hearts this is what God looks for so dose it matter how we got that love if we have love in our hearts for God our neighbour and our enemies then we fulfil the law this is the most importent thing of all.
