The smoke of their torment will rise forever.

How can there be smoke?

@davetaff please can you explain Jesus referring to ghosts and human ghosts in the bible? Luke 24:39 Mark 6:49
The ghost of Samuel too?

Hi Concerto
Thank for the questions as for the smoke where there's smoke there's fire or maybe the smoke represents the moaning and groaning of those being tormented.

As for the two verses you have quoted the first was Christ in his resurrection body and not a ghost it seams it was a solid body and all those who will be resurrected will have the same kind of body.
As for your second verse it was only his disciples who thought it was a ghost of course he was not.

Dave,
You need to read Romans again, it says that the non christian is without excuse.

That anyone ois saved is entirly due to Gods grace and mercy.
Yes you are right the unbelievers do have an eternal soul. Why do you think hell is so terrible? They will spend an eternity without God or any blessings that God provides.

Why are you worrying about those who died thousands of years ago. They are dead and there is nothing that can be done for what ever state they are in, not unless you are going to become a mormon and be baptised on there behalf.

Concerto,
"How can this place of torture be endured by perfect people in their paradise. Irs unrealistic. "

What do you mean?

Is it how can people in heaven be glad while they know people are suffering in hell, or do you think perfect people are suffering in hell?

The Christians in heaven will have pefe4ct knowledge of Gods justice. They, you, Dave and I will find no reason to question Gods justice or his treatment of every soul in hell. If you were able to find grounds for an appeal against Gods justice, then neither God or his justice would be 'pefect'.

Those who get sent to hell will not be perfect. Go through the NT letters reading all the discriptions of non christian behaviour and the lists of those who will not be found in heaven.
There is a word that is never used of them:- repentant.

Christians are sorry for there hatred of God, sinners are not.

Hi John
Thanks for your reply how do you read the following.

Rom 10:14  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Rom 10:15  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

then we have.

Rom 1:20  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

they seam to contradict each other do they not the only thing that makes sence to me is if Rom 1:20 is being said about those who have heared the good news and have refused to belive if it is not so then it means St Paul is contradicting himself.

Love and Peace

Maybe because I feel sorry for all those people being tortured for all eternity I wont make it to heaven.
Maybe he will turn me away and say i never knew you.
John and Davetaff will be in a place to understand Gods justice. Davetaff feels sorry for those people now but then one day he won't. Doesn't make sense.

Dave,
"Rom 10:14  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Rom 10:15  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! "

Is talking about now, it is not talking about going into the past.

Rom 1:20 is talking about how all people in the past, present and future have the evidence that there is aGod right in front of them.

Concerto,
being sorry for the lost does not disqualify you for heaven. That is determined by your relationship with Jesus.

The evidence of God is obvious but is the gospel being told now so much in 2019, or was it told more in the past.
If creation is sufficient why does the gospel need to be preached as well?

@davetaff I googled these scriptures and someone said that Romans 1:20 is referring to those who dishonour God and practise deliberate sins worshipping false gods and creatures.
It may not be do to with redemption but then everyone dishonours God and are only redeemed by the grace of Jesus .
