Just 1 John 3:1 "How great is the Father's love that he has lavished on us that we should be called children of God".

Not in the bible but:
"Loved Like Never Before, Discovering the Father Heart of God - Ken Symington".

I pray you are close or get closer to God as Father and then Abba Father one day as He is also know as Jehovah Ratha (healer).

Welcome Mike,
That saying about church + Christians is unfortunetly true. We are not as attractive as Jesus, even though we shouild be.

May I encourage you to continue to attend church, depending how many are in your area you might find the 'shipoffools' mystery worshipper questionaire a usefull tool to judge a church.

two reason for attending church. To take part in the worship of God and through the surmon to learn/bbe challenged.
2. to meet people and start getting to know them and start making friends.

I personally since trying to be become a better Christian person have always found that churches  ⛪ I have attended have been a little to full of ?middle class snobbery? for my liking. I read/listen to the bible daily and still am discipled monthly by a kind old boy from my old church who is now a leader. I suffer from depression (very severe) sometimes and it affects my life to the point where I am now-excluding family a reclusive person. I attempted at the first church I attended for quite a while to talk about my problems/get some moral support as it were. This took the form of a group of Christians humouring me and saying they?d like to help-and did so by not and some clearly feeling awkward around me. I felt like they were fascinated by me as a ?my isnt mike a *??#%*[~? poor chap. The church is the last place I would ever attend for fellowship and friendship and to help me on my journey-it has the opposite effect. But I would like to think I am getting closer to being in/am in Jesus family. A Christian once sat and said this very sentence to me at a church gathering ?the thing that brings people to church is Christianity and what drives them away again is Christians?. Make of that what you will🤔 so good people I?m here to receive some online Christian  fellowship here. Any good books from the good big book you can recommend? God bless you all

Hi Mike
Welcome to the forum not to sure of how I can help you will pray for you of course and hope you get over your depression and hope you can get the help you need from the members on here.
I got from your post that you are maybe a little judgemental to those in the churches you have been to I don't think we should judge but love our brothers and sisters in Christ you will find even on here that there are many different points of view as there are in all the different denominations around the world so how do we Know who is telling the truth the only way is to compare what they say against the scripture's.

as for Books from the good book picking one is almost impossible I think all those that contain the sayings of our lord must take first place after them the epistle to the Hebrews is one of my favourites.

Don't hide yourself away bite the bullet and get out there you never know who you mite help and remember these wise words

Heb 10:24  And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Heb 10:25  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Love and Peace
Dave

There are wolves in church in sheeps clothing so you are not wrong - ratio of good to bad in every church is different.

I have struggled with these wolves too.

Try and get close to a sound Brother or Sister that makes your soul feel good and just sit next to them and you will be protected - maybe tell them whats up too.

Also go out half way through for a five minute breather and come back in.

Always remember - the door is wide open and you can walk out at any time. Holding that in your mind might help you through.

Hopefully this blesses other people too and gets them into church more as it is important.

Also Bruv, dont read Hebrews as it will give you the heeby jeepys with assurance issues.

Read Romans 8 and know that you are safe in your Father's arms - Romans 8:38-39.

Also Romans 12:21 "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
I know it is difficult but if you can do it then you feel pukka. Just try and love them a little - just do what you can manage.
