Actor Eddie Redmayne, who played Professor Stephen Hawking in the 2014 film "The Theory of Everything," read a poignant Bible passage at the funeral of the renowned physicist and self-proclaimed atheist on Saturday.

Its utter hypocrisy to celebrate a church funeral for someone who publicly rejected God. However the scripture quoted is entirely appropriate, as also confirmed by Romans1 below. The Eternal Spirit of God works daily on every man's heart, convicting of sin and righteousness. So rejecting the whisper of the Spirit is entirely man's own free choice, but refusing it will without fail carry eternal consequences.
Read the following line by line. God reveals himself to every man, and He allows no excuses for suppressing that knowledge.

Romans1v18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven upon all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, suppressing the truth by unrighteousness, 19because the known of God is manifest among them, for God has revealed it to them. 20For from the creation of the world His invisible qualities, both His eternal power and divinity, are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, therefore they are without excuse.
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)
