if we only grasp and accept what Jesus really said and meant at Jn 3:5 = today's Christian is yesterday's non Christian and today's non Christian is tomorrow's Christian - here is the lost and forgotten good news imho  - wincam

And how are we to understand what Jesus meant by saying we had to be borne of water and of the spirit?

The next verse he says that flesh gives birth to flesh and Spirit gives birth to Spirit.

Christianity is not about what we do, but about what we believe.

Christianity can in no way be about what Christians believe which now seems to include many way out , weird and wacky things imho - wincam

imho to be born again of water and spirit is to be born again as a Christian - this is required of all non Christians so that all today's Christians are yesterday's non Christians and all today's non Christians are tomorrow's Christians - wincam

you
Hi Wincam
what in your opinion is the water our lord was speaking about do you believe that sprinkling a few drops of water on a babys head makes it a Christian.

1 Peter 1:23
since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;

As we see here it is being washed with the word of God that one is born again the water of the word of God and then we receive the spirit the blood of Christ.
When the Roman soldier pierced our Lords side water and blood ran out from these elements the Church his body was created.

Love and Peace
Dave
