The Church
« on: March 28, 2018, 02:37:03 PM »
Hi
This subject is in response to @wincam and his remarks on the letter to the Hebrews and I feel is taking that thread of track so I thought to move his question to a new Thread I hope he will not be offended and will join this debate which I think is important.

so here we go again - false interpretations of Hebrews1:1 whilst the real true message and impact is mangled and mauled = God did not then as now speak to just any Tom, Mick or Mary as has been and even now is claimed but also later in those last days through His son who in these very last days through His Holy Spirit speaks to and through His Church and Bible - this is not in Hebrews 1:1 because it has already been stated in scriptures imho - wincam

Hi Wincam
Welcome to the discussion I'm not sure about the point you are trying to make what do you mean buy

false interpretations of Hebrews1:1

Heb 1:1  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

As I see it there is not much to interpret it's jest a statement of fact.

You say that Christ speaks via the Holy spirit through his church and the bible can't argue with that I would like to ask what do you see as Christs Church for myself I believe it is body of Christ which consists of believers from all denominations.

since you ask and would really care or dare to know or ask for the sake of others - scripture tell us to be aware of false teachers and prophets who would lead astray those with itching ears by proclaiming "here He is or there He is" and added believe them not - unfortunately this sound advice has been ignored - scriptures also tell us clearly where the Church is and may be found - unfortunately this has also been ignored as unacceptable - more later - wincam

I don't think anyone would dispute that God's Spirit speaks to us through the Bible and the Church - the thorny question is how to define the Church!

Wincam:
You can't just say "the Roman Catholic Church" and think you're safe because there have been false teachers in the RCC as well as in other denominations.

If you want to discuss the topic of the Church, I suggest you start another thread.

you cannot and should not define the Church other than the way Christ defined it and the way it defines itself = where Peter is there is the Church - Peter and His Church love Him more than all the others imho - twinc

Hebrews 6:4-8

Here is an article which describes "apostasy" - the subject of this passage - pretty well.

As we can see from the above these posts have very little to do with the Hebrews discussion and I will delete them from the Hebrews thread if there are no objections.

Picking up on what Wincam said above and to kick the thread of.

In your opinion Wincam how did Christ define his church and what dose Peter have to do with it as far as I know the church is the body of Christ the body of believers who have received the Holy Spirit as a deposit.
There is only one head of the church and that Is Jesus Christ the son of God.
